Installation Instructions:
Windows XP Efficient 3060 & 4060 Drivers

  1. Make sure your Efficient 3060 or 4060 modem is connected to your computer. When you see the Found New Hardware Wizard window, click Cancel.

  2. On the FTP site, click the download link. When prompted, Save the file to your desktop.

  3. Once the download is complete, double-click the 3060_4060_Driver file on your desktop. The file will self-extract and you'll see the following window.

  4. The setup program will appear. Read the Software License Agreement and click Accept.

  5. The setup program will now check for any existing SpeedStream drivers. Click Next.

  6. The setup program is now ready to begin the installation. Click Next.

  7. The setup program will now perform a series of installation procedures. This will take a few minutes.

  8. When the installation is complete, the congratulations screen will appear. Click Finished.

  9. Ensure that the driver is successfully installed and that your modem is in sync by checking for the "e" symbol in your systray. If there is not a red line through the "e" icon, the modem is in sync and you are ready to create a PPPoE connection.

If there is a red line through the "e" icon, make sure your phone line is properly connected to the modem and that there are no filters installed on the wall jack.

(If you've already created a PPPoE connection, you may skip the remaining steps; you're ready to access the Internet.)

  10. Go to Start > Control Panel and double-click the Network Connections icon.

  11. Click Create a new connection on the left side of the window. If you're prompted with a "Location Information" box, enter your area code in the field labeled "What area code (or city code) are you in now?" and then click OK.

  12. The Network Connection Wizard will now appear. Click Next.

  13. Select Connect to the Internet, then click Next.

  14. Select Set up my connection manually, then click on Next.

  15. Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password. Click Next.

  16. Enter "Ameritech.net" in the ISP Name field. Click Next.

  17. Enter your entire User Name (YourMemberID@ameritech.net) and password as shown below. Click Next.

  18. The Setup process is finished. Place a check next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop. Click Finish.

  19. The connection box will appear. Click Connect to access the Internet.

  20. Launch your web browser or email application to browse the Internet.
